Welcome From MCES Principal
Welcome students, parents, community members, faculty, and staff to the 2019-2020 school year. I would like to thank MCES faculty and staff, other school administrators, the Mitchell County Board of Education, parents/guardians, and the community for the support given during the 2018-2019 school year. What an awesome first year school term! I am so proud, honored and blessed, to serve as the leader at MCES. The theme for Mitchell County Elementary for the 2018–2019 school year was “The Magic Starts Here”. We will continue with the same theme for the upcoming year.
Our teachers and staff are caring, innovative, and always learning something new for the benefit of our students. We are a collaborative and driven group of educators who strive to have our students reach their highest potential. The teachers have been charged to “think outside the box” and create a “magical atmosphere” that is inviting to students and sparks their interest.
A new school year is always exciting. MCES’s focus will be to provide each child with a rigorous academic program that will incorporate new challenges. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, writing, language, math, science, and social studies will be taught at each child’s ability level. We will also focus on increasing students’ Lexile using Reading Horizon and strengthening the whole child with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) centered on the 5 P’s. Our program will be complete with the incorporation of music, art, health, and physical education.
We look forward to seeing all our students on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 6, 2019! Remember, “A little magic can take you a long way”.
