Principal's Message

Welcome From MCES Principal

Welcome students, parents, community members, faculty, and staff to the 2018-2019 school year. According to Carol Moseley Braun, “Magic lies in challenging what seems impossible”.  To many, education seems to be that impossible. The theme for Mitchell County Elementary for the 2018–2019 school year is: “The Magic Starts Here”. For those of you who are new to our school, I want you to know that you are coming to an absolutely wonderful place. I came to Mitchell County Elementary in January of 2018 as an Associate Principal. I am now honored to take on the new role of principal. I am committed to the Mitchell County community and firmly believe that all students can succeed.
Our teachers and staff are caring, innovative, and always learning something new for the benefit of our students. We are a collaborative and driven group of educators who strive to have our students reach their highest potential. The teachers have been charged to “think outside the ” and create a “magical atmosphere” that is inviting to students and sparks their interest.
I’ve enjoyed meeting with many of you and look forward to our continued partnership in ensuring a productive and magical educational experience for your child(ren).  I believe that building strong relationships between home and school is a key factor in increasing student achievement. As principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input.
We look forward to seeing all our students on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 7, 2018! Remember, “A little magic can take you a long way”.

Magically yours,
Jacqueline Thomas, Principal
Rosemary Sanders, Assistant Principal
Erica Jones, Instructional Coach
